I’m Jeff, an attorney, writer, and mediator. After nearly twenty-five years as a national security lawyer, I took a voluntary early retirement (VERA) offer from my agency in 2025.
I’m also a freelance writer for the last few years and since I like to write, I started this website to share experiences about my retirement transition.
I was born and raised in northern Virginia, just outside of Washington D.C. After college in the West and law school in Williamsburg, VA, I ended up back home for my federal attorney job and am happy to still be here.
